Chocolate and hazelnut is one of my favourite flavour combinations, easily enjoyed in this chocolate and hazelnut spread green smoothie. This great recipe adds a healthy boost from a handful of fresh kale.
Chocolate and hazelnut spread on toast is delicious, but I prefer to enjoy this flavour combination as a smoothie. Starting the day with a smoothie really fits in with my lifestyle: either enjoyed at home or on the go, a smoothy is handily portable, and I love the way I can adjust the flavour to how I’m feeling in the morning. Most importantly, it’s chock full of fruits and vegetables, so I’m well on the way to my five a day, and it’s still only breakfast time. The final benefit is that unlike the spread, there’s no refined sugar or palm oil, wh
How do I make chocolate and hazelnut smoothie?
As with most smoothies, it’s a one step process: blend everything together until smooth, then enjoy! By using chocolate oat milk, there’s no time spent melting pure chocolate or trying to blend bar chocolate.
One thing that does make a difference is using a power blender, if you have one available. It really gives a silky smooth result.

Oh yum! This looks delicious! I’ll have your Vitamix if you ever totally break up. (I’m not kidding! I tried a Vitamix juice and sorbet at BritMums and fell in love, but there’s no way I could afford to buy one!).Reply
Helen
The optimum is far more affordable Elizabeth, but still very expensive. But I use mine everyday for a green smoothie and have not had a cold since I started drinking them regularly.

My that does look nice. Will be interesting to see if the Froothie can stand up to the heavy duty use I know you will subject it to!Reply
Helen
I am looking forward to putting it through it’s paces Sarah. Soup for lunch today.

Interesting that your head has been turned by this blender. The noise of the Vitamix is the thing I don’t like.Reply
Helen
It is so much quieter. Still noisy, but I feel I can use it at 7am without worrying about the neighbours.

What an insanely healthy recipe Helen! You’ve packed an outrageous amount of nutrition into that smoothie – you could conquer the world after drinking that I’m sure. Can’t believe you’ve ditched the Vitamix…Reply
Helen
Thanks Katie,
It is early days, but I am so impressed with the Optimum 9400!

I’ve recently converted myself to having smoothies for breakfast everyday, I don’t always add the greens but I have noticed that I am just feeling better in general with more energy. I’m going to have to hunt down some chocolate milk to give this recipe a go as it sounds like a brilliant way to start the day.I’ve been lusting after a Vitamix so it’s good to know that the Optimum is a bit cheaper, better start saving up though!

I am very impressed with the Optimum. Most blenders can cope with spinach, but it does need better one to get kale and other greens to silky smoothness.

I’m surprised to read you’re ditching the Vitamix Helen, the Optimum must be really impressive. I love the look of your smoothie, healthy and chocolate has got to be a winner!Reply

It is early days Sian, but I am super impressed. The Froothie team have oodles of confidence in their product as they are sending review Optimums to die hard Vitamix fans.

How interesting – I still like the vitamix but the idea of a quieter version makes it tempting to try the Froothie machine. Lovely pic of the smoothie too Helen.

Both are excellent machines Nazima. Living in a flat the difference in noise is really appreciated.

Super excited to have received my Froothie yesterday. Haven’t got around to testing it yet, first have to do a spot of shopping. That’s one very healthy smoothie you have there, Helen!

I am loving it Michelle. So much lighter than the Vitamix.

I’m favouring the Froothie for the same reasons, most especially the noise reduction and the quick result when compared to the Vitamix (although mine is the cheaper and smaller Vitamix Aspire, exclusive to Lakeland). Lovely recipe too, Helen. Have been away a lot so I haven’t properly put it through its paces, but so far I am quite impressed.
